Venices Canals are beautifully clear. As Italy experience a lockdown, the water traffic has gone down to a minimum. For a city experiencing around 30 million (!) visitors per year, this is a drastic change that has a positive impact on the natural eco-systems. Twitter is booming with inhabitants filming little fish in the clear water. However, all the dirt is not totally gone, but it has sunk to the bottom of the canals. And without the boats stirring it up, it appears to be so clean that even dolphins dare to swim in them. Surely, we can’t go there to check for ourselves (neither should we, obviously).
